Who is God?

Have you ever asked the question who GOD is? The answer is yes. When you were a kid and watched as the stars and the moon lit up the sky, when the clouds passed by, and when the cool breeze stroked your face, didn’t you feel the existence of God? We are talking about the God with a capital G – the one true God. Did you know that God is Love? Did anyone tell you that God loves you? God is spirit. You cannot see God with your natural eyes. Yet people made many gods for themselves. How can the God who created the universe exist as an idol? How can the God Almighty, who raised all the mountains and filled the oceans with waters, be limited to a motionless statue? The God who has written the code for man’s DNA and executed it so perfectly, the God who breathed life into the man, does not he live? Does not the maker of your eyes perceive? Does not the maker of your ears hear?

If the big bang theory was true, then how many million years does it take for an explosion in a public library to evolve into a B2 Jet plane? And if the evolution theory was right, then why aren’t humans becoming some other animals over all these years? You are more than an evolved animal. You are not a species. You are not an accident. You were made in God’s own image. You are a child of God. And God is your loving father.

“If God loves us why is our world in chaos?”

Let us say a man decides to jump off a 30-floor building just to see if the earth’s gravity really works. All of the odds are against him. By any means he will be hurt. After jumping, while he is still in the air, he realizes that gravity is real. Being filled with terror, he cries out to God, “God save me!” Would God stop the gravity and save this man? If God would have to stop gravity for this person, every other person on the earth would be in danger. Cars would take off the road and crash. Air planes would be kicked off into the space. Water of the oceans would flood over the land. And much more we can’t even think of. Just understand, how many people would die if God had to stop gravity for this one man.

“So what’s the deal?”

It was not God’s will for him to jump off the building. Gravity is a law. God made it for the benefit of the man. If you break this law, the very law designed for you will turn against you and destroy you.

“So God doesn’t control everything on the earth?”
No he does not. God gave mankind an ability to choose. This is what makes us special. You can pick and choose whatever you want to believe. God does not control your ‘will’. God loves you but, he does not make you love him back although he desires your love. You have to choose to love God. That’s what this life is all about – a relationship with God.

“Relationship with God? Then, what is religion?”

Religion is the biggest mistake of mankind and it is not from God. It is hypocrisy. Religion is man’s effort to please God. Religion and relationship are contrary to each other. They never can be together. Religion is a set of dos and don’ts. It changed the image of God. Religion taught us that God is a grocery store or a lottery ticket. Religion taught us that God is angry with us and that God controls all the poverty, sickness, and death on the earth. Religion is a liar. If God hates anything, that is religion. It’s time for you to realize that God is more than a customer care executive or a grocery store manager. God is your daddy, the almighty father. God loves you and he desires your love. Now, that’s the relationship!

“How do I know that God loves me?”

The Bible tells us that God is love and that God loves you. There is no other place where you will find this. The word ‘Bible’ here is not talking about the physical book or pages or words printed in it. It’s about the message it contains. That message is ‘God loves you’. That is the good news.

“Why don’t I experience God’s love in my life?”

The reason we don’t feel loved by God, even though he always loves us, is simply that we are dead and God is alive. We live in a fallen world. And we live in sin. Sin is disobedience to God. The bible tells us that the result of sin is death. When God created man, he had everlasting life. God lived in man’s spirit. He lived in man’s heart. That is called relationship. When you love someone you let them live in your heart. That doesn’t mean you will find that person in your physical heart. It’s talking about your spirit. But when we sinned and rejected the goodness of God, our hearts were hardened like a rock. That was how our spirit died. And then, we started to fill that void with lot of ungodly things to find satisfaction and rest in the world. But the world offers you confusion. We all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God.

“What should I do to restore this relationship?”

You cannot do anything. Don’t worry! Someone else has paid the price for you. While God unconditionally loves, he is uncompromisingly holy. Anything that doesn’t act according to his word would be self-destroyed. For instance take the law of gravity; it’s for your benefit. You use the gravity even to sit on a chair. But if you break this law and try to jump off a cliff or a building you would land hurt or dead. In the same way, God made us with his law in our heart. When we rejected God out of our hearts, and broke the law, we were subject to judgment. The very law which was made for us has then turned against us. And we were about to be destroyed.

The Perfect Sacrifice!

But someone stopped it from happening. Like a hen that protects her chicks under her wings, someone came and covered us in his arms. He took our punishment upon himself. Surely, he took up our infirmities and carried our sorrows. He was pierced for our transgressions; he was crushed for our iniquities. The punishment that brought us peace was upon him, and by his wounds we are healed.

“Who is he?”

To your surprise he is God himself! God has sacrificed himself for you. His name is ‘Jesus Christ’. He is the King of the kings and the Lord of the lords. He is the beginning and the end. He was there before the foundations of the earth were laid. All things were made by him and without him was nothing made that was made. God, who is spirit came down to the earth into a physical body and became the ‘Son of God’. He was born to a virgin. There was no sin in him. He lived like every other man on this earth and was tempted in all ways, yet he overcame sin. He showed us the Father. He said, “If you know me, you know the father. I am in the Father and the Father is in me.” He also said, “I have come to give you life and to give it more abundantly. I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd lays his life down for his sheep. “My Father loves me, because I lay down my life that I might take it again. No man takes it from me, but I lay it down myself and I have power to take it again.” And that’s what he exactly did. When he was on this earth in a physical body, he took all of our sin upon himself. He died in our place. He was stripped naked, beaten until he shed the last drop of his blood. He was hanged on a wooden cross. Nails were driven into his hands and feet to keep him hanged on the cross. A crown of thorns was put on his head. He was humiliated among all the people. Why God himself did go through all this? He did that for you and me. He loved you so much that he died on the cross for you. But, he didn’t stop there. He defeated the death and came back with life on third day. Jesus said, “I am the way, the truth, and the life” “I am the life and resurrection. He who believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live: And whosoever liveth and believeth in me shall never die” It’s all done my friend! Jesus Christ did it all for you! All you need to do is believe this good news.

Today is the day of salvation!

Lord Jesus said, “Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will eat with him, and he with me.” Don’t waste anymore time. You have heard the good news. Believe in your heart the work that Jesus Christ did for you, and say with your lips, “Precious Lord Jesus, I believe that you love me. I believe that you took the punishment of my sins on the cross and died in my place. I also believe that you have defeated death and rose from the dead to give me eternal life. Lord Jesus, I invite you into my heart. I want to live with you and for you forever!” If you have spoken those words, not just from the letters, but from your heart, YOU ARE BORN AGAIN! The Lord God will fill your heart with unspeakable joy and peace. He says, “I have loved you with an everlasting love; I have drawn you with my arms opened wide. Your sins and iniquities, I shall remember them no more. For the mountains shall depart, and the hills be removed; but my kindness shall not depart from you. I shall never leave you nor forsake you.”
